Description
Director of Performance Marketing
We are partnering with a long-established, growth-oriented consumer brand entering a new phase of evolution. With incoming executive leadership and a renewed focus on profitable growth, this is a pivotal moment to redefine how performance marketing operates across the organization.
The Director of Performance Marketing will assess the current performance ecosystem, clarify what should live in-house versus with agency partners, and build the strategy, team structure, and operating rhythms required to scale efficiently. This role is equal parts strategist, translator, and builder.
This is a senior individual contributor and people leader role reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, with meaningful influence across Finance, Creative, Operations, and Leadership.
This is an environment that values:
- Collegiality and mutual respect
- Ownership and accountability
- Pragmatic collaboration
- Continuous evolution
Location & Working Model
- Kingston-based candidates: expected to work from the office five days per week.
- Toronto or Ottawa-based candidates: remote-first with the expectation of being in Kingston when required, particularly during onboarding and key planning cycles. Travel frequency will be higher initially and taper over time.
- Candidates must be able and willing to travel to Kingston as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- 7–10+ years in performance or growth marketing roles, with experience leading strategy rather than only execution.
- Proven ownership of significant paid media budgets and the ability to diagnose and improve performance at scale.
- Experience working with agencies, and ideally transitioning work in-house or rebuilding operating models.
- Background in e-commerce or consumer brands is strongly preferred.
Skills & Capabilities
- Highly analytical with strong critical thinking skills; comfortable forming hypotheses and testing them with data.
- Exceptional communicator who can persuade, challenge, and align senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable rolling up sleeves in paid media when needed, without needing to personally execute every channel.
- Strong understanding of lifecycle marketing, segmentation, CRO, and the relationship between creative and performance.
Behavioural Attributes
- Persistent and resilient; follows through and fights for what matters.
- Deeply curious; seeks to understand why something works (or doesn’t) rather than accepting surface-level answers.
- Pragmatic and grounded; brings substance over showmanship.
- Solutions-oriented while clearly articulating tradeoffs and constraints.
- Thrives in environments undergoing change and is motivated by the opportunity to shape what comes next.
Compensation
- Salary range: $105,000–$125,000 CAD (flexibility for exceptional talent)
- Benefits: Supplemental health and dental coverage
- Growth opportunity: This role is highly visible and offers meaningful long-term impact and advancement potential as the organization evolves.
